Spin Mag has been a big fucking disappointment lately. Their design has gone to the crapper and they keep hailing bands like Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance -- though that might be the fault of their audience. Art Director for Spin was once my dream job, and I know I could turn their design around, but who wants to turn around a magazine that's becoming teenybopper trash. So I need to pick a new mag. I'm leaning towards Filter because they a) are really pretentious b) have good music and movie taste and c) have a template design that needs to be modified.
To Spin, shame on you.Feeling a bit: bored Musical Stylings: Roses - Andre 3000

So lets see. Its been a while.
My roommate moved out. So I've got a very large double all to myself. Here's the before she left and after:

Pretty wild I know. Photobucket is working again. Isn't that stellar?
I'm on my last piece of chocolate. Definitly need to make a grocery trip. I had a bag of the Dove Promises. One of the "promises" aka fortune said "Flirting is mandatory." I thought it was funny.
I've been very productive today. When Branden got up to go snowboarding at 8 am, I got up too. I took a shower, and did laundry, and non-stop homework. Of course, I still have work to do. I have to design a toy. Any ideas?
The snow has stopped. Its been doing this crazy off on thing. Weather, go figure.
Wow this is pretty lame. I'm not even interested in what I have to say.
I feel small today.
I bought my ticket to Bonnaroo. Do you Bonnaroo? In 2 weeks, Justin and I are going to see the Black Keys. I'm stuper pumped; its sure to be a great show.
O, I put in my application for studying in Florence. Should be good to go as soon as I send the transcript and deposit.
Not too much to say; just thought I needed an update. This song makes me think of Disney's Robinhood.Feeling a bit: productive Musical Stylings: Visions of Johanna - Bob Dylan

Okay, this is me being completely distracted from writing my paper. 2.5 pages down 1.5 to go. See not too bad.
I feel completely aweful because I completely forgot about double quiz team practice this weekend and didn't make it to either practice. But I pledge from this day forth that nothing will keep me from practices, not even when they become 4 times a week! I want to be good honestly and tournament is just around the corner.
I have the most aweful pain in my right shoulder and neck. It pretty much sucks at life.
I was going to add pictures to this post, but photobucket is being a prat. It can eat my socks.
I'd like to applaud Lauren Davis for a) being totally clever when she commented on my last post and b) for getting well enough to come back to school. Hopefully she'll be in tip top condition super soon.
Okay okay i'm going to get this over with, gosh darn it. Back to the paper.
Later days.

So I thought it'd be fun to take my top 10 most played off i-Tunes and explain why I play them so goddamn often.
1. Que' Onda Guero - Beck: Pretty much this song is just catchy as shit, except when it gets stuck in my head I only know a few phrases. It makes me want to go to LA and walk around with a boombox on my shoulder.
2. Rock the Casbah - the Clash: Perfect to dance to and hop around. Plus its kind of spooky, yet poppy.
3. Chicago - Sufjan Stevens: The first time I heard Sufjan I was hanging with Aaron and his friend Matt; they were all a buzz about his new album Illinoise, which wasn't coming out like it was supposed to. Aaron played me Michigan and burned it for me. This track ended up on the end of the cd. It's just so damn good and makes me want to do road trip mania. I love the strings.
4.You're Driving Me Crazy - Diane Reeves: This is from the Good Night and Good Luck soundtrack which I bought the day after I saw the movie. It's like a little chunk of jazzy heaven.
5. Step Into My Office, Baby - Belle and Sebastian: I first heard this on WLHS Lakota Radio, didn't think to much of it until I found it among the 9 days of music I ripped from Rob's ipod. It's pretty silly.
6. Exhibit A - The Features: I saw the Features open for the Kings of Leon and it was like an added bonus to what became an amazingly fun concert. Picked up the album at the concert.
7. Heart of Mine - Peter Salett: I've written about this before circa NYC trip. I can't help it I love this song. It makes me want to be in love.
8. Say Something New - The Concretes: This song is in a Target commercial and everytime I saw the comercial I would think, hmm I've heard this before (which i hadn't) so I downloaded the lovliness. I wouldn't say there's a lot of depth to it, but if we all were listening to it right now i think we'd be in an antigravity chamber.
9. Those Who Stayed - Murder By Death: What can I say it's Murder By Death. It's beautiful. I'm kind of surprised Three Men Hanging didn't make the top 10; it's a big fav of mine.
10. Tuff Ghost - The Unicorns: I don't know what it is that attracts me to this song. I think it might be that its fairly different from the other Unicorn songs, plus i like to sing along.
Okay that was pretty fun. Later Days. O how I miss the Weekenders.

» So i may have built this up a bit...
Here it is the big post:
My winter break: worky worky worky worky (yes four days), new york, movies, worky, worky on christmas eve, work on christmas day, first day of chanukah, worky worky, movies, worky, worky, worky, lobster and school again....
But really it was a great break! Here's a little video circa New York City for your viewing pleasure: My KickAss Vid
I watched a lot of movies over break (of course). Alex, Nick, and I started a little movie night tradition where we rent two movies (one comical, one depressing, one of which must be foriegn) and then buy snackies. Pretty much some of the most fun I've had in a while. The hot list (I recommend viddying them all): -Kung Fu Hustle (still good the second time, but see Shaolin Soccer) -The Machinist (kept me on the edge until the very end, so good) -Chronicles of Narnia (pretty fabulous interpretation of the book, o Mr.Tumnus) -Memoirs of a Geisha (the book's a little better than the film I think, but still lovely) -King Kong (it's fucking King Kong) -the Family Stone (not what I expected, but quite good for what it was; I'm in love with the dinner scene, o alex you know) -Syriana (intense, and interesting, though my professor will tell you it's not a complete picture of the Middle East) -Garden State (not bad for a second viewing, I had forgotten I liked it) -Audition (it's fucking Audition; i think I need to see it again...) -Pot O'Gold (Jimmy Stewart plays harmonica, need I say more) -Made For Each Other (starts out okay, ending is kinda lame, but Jimmy Stewart makes up for it) -the Doors (long, but enjoyable) -A Hard Day's Night (George = a joke-a-minute) -El Mariachi (always fun) -Snatch (I own it now, thank goodness) -Stealing Harvard (how did this one sneak on here? lame to the max but features Jason Lee) -Madagascar (this one's for the kiddies) -Blade Runner (Harrison does sci-fi... again, yay!) -Love Actually (can never get enough) -The Producers (pretty much just like the show)
Okay I think thats all of them.
Nano and Bose speakers make me happy. Sean got me the new Franz Ferdinand album, pretty good i think.
School started up just like it never ended. Classes are all wonderful as usual and piling on the work. 7 drawings to do this weekend. Stellar! Who wouldn't want to draw boxes?
Anthropology of Books and Reading is going to be amazing. We're actually reading fiction instead of text books and the professor is the Rare Books and Archives librarian, so thats totally sweet. Should be a pretty easy A too as long as I keep up.
Middle Eastern History got easier this quarter I think, but it might be too soon to tell.
I think this summer (when I'm not in Florence), I'm going to try for an internship with a designer who runs shop on KingsGate. She's a friend of a friend of the family. Connections, woot.
I never realized what they meant in stories when they describe food as tasting like old shoelaces until I tried the roast beef at dinner tonight. On the upside, mashed potatoes two days in a row, booyah.
O and my head feels like a cotton ball on the verge of a sneeze, hooray! Okay is that good enough? Please respond politely. Later Days.

Okay, so I really want to do a huge blow out entry encompassing basically the last month (i.e. break), but I didn't do my drawing homework so that will have to come first. Actually Scrubs will take priority over all, tonight being the season premier. So just wanted to say hey, i'm back at school. I promise a bitchin post, hopefully by Friday.

Has anybody seen the freaking cast list for the Da Vinci Code!? Ridiculously good cast! Need I note Paul Bettany and Audrey Tautou? Fuck, this movie better be good.
Saw Narnia with Alex, and was quite pleased with the results. Awwe Mr.Tumnus, so perfect. Check out Alex's LJ to read about the good times with Nicholas Boggs.
Okay, I'd like to ramble on (o how clever), but I've got to go. Later days.

Check me out with my updating. Wild.
I'm studying for my art history exam. No sweat really its Ancient Rome. I mean I've been there, so no sweat. Hadrian's Villa is even on the test <--- probably my favorite place in the world. My very large book that I paid too much money for and don't use:

I need to make my mom a birthday card. I'm going to use one of the leaf collages we made in color class. This one:

I'm all packed to come home tomorrow. You know home, 20 minutes away... haha... Anyway I have a lot of crap. This is like 1/2 of what I'm bring home:

My roommate hasn't packed yet or cleaned. She leaves on Friday for Cleveland. Look at this mess (her side not mine):

And this is the view out my window... kinda hard to tell but the screen made a need effect:

I'm trying to listen to all of the songs on my iTunes, because well there's a lot of music from Rob's ipod that I just haven't gotten through yet. Only 1153 songs, 3.3 days to go. Yikes.
How do we (by we i mean you my readers) feel about the picture thing? I think it ads a nice flair to my lj. Did i spell flair right?
10:30 means Whose Line is it Anyway? Too bad the first one at 10 is canceled tonight for the Rudolph movie. I think I want to rent the British Whose Line and watch it with Alex. I don't know if you can rent it though. That would make me quite happy.
Okay enough blabbering...

Choco-Espresso Beans: useful and delicious!
So you know that NYC mix I was working on? Pretty much really enjoying it. I want to post the track list but then it wouldn't be a pleasant surprise for Alex. I will say that I put Heart of Mine by Peter Salett on the album. It's from Keeping the Faith (remember Mr.Waits as well) and I just can't stop listening to it.
I finished all my portfolios (pretty proud of my middle eastern essay by the way). What a relief! O my god I've never felt so much weight lifted off of my shoulders. I pretty much don't know what to do with myself. My exam's not until Thursday, so it's just kick back, relax right now. I didn't set my alarm today. It felt good.
I'm gonna need lunch soon. If only I had some one to join me. Sigh can't be helped.
I'm reading College of Magics by Caroline Stevermer. I picked it up because she did a cowrite with Patricia C. Wrede which I really enjoyed -- Sorcery and Cecelia or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot : Being the Correspondence of Two Young Ladies of Quality Regarding Various Magical Scandals in London and the Country a very long title but a very good book; there's a sequel as well. Any way, A College of Magics is a tad disappointing; its a little too much politics and not enough magic, but then again I'm not sure if that's even the problem. I'm not even sure if I dislike it as much as I feel I do. Really it's just a quick read and nothing more. Not bad, but not fantastic either.

Before I come home, Ali and I are going to do a book swap; Life of Pi for Memoirs of a Geisha. I'm pretty psyched because I really want to read Memoirs before the movie comes out and the movie looks fabulous.
Tonight is the School of Design show. ::pitiful woot:: Should be neat to see the upperclassmen's work I suppose. Anyway, I get Cincinnatus hours for helping to set up.
Oh and everyone check out Page France. Good stuff, and they're supposed to be coming to Southgate House in January, of course, I thought the Islands were supposed to come and well that didn't happen.
I'm pretty happy I remembered all my self-taught html skills.
Okay enough useless information for one day. Who wouldn't want to be chipper?

I'm working on that 5-7 page paper. I'm at 2 and a half pages, but I think its going well. :D Anyway I thought for my 10th break today I would update and grace you all with some photos. This EasyMac is too watery, but I'm running out of meals on my meal plan:

Here is the desk of a studious Middle Eastern History student:

And here I am giving myself the critical eye because well I should be working:

I think my hair is a little too prima ballerina today. But speaking of ballet I think I'm going to take a dance class spring quarter. I'm pretty pumped about the idea.
Paradise Now was quite good, no indie music but that's okay. Said (one of the characters) was a total hottie. I wonder if they were actually able to film on the West Bank, this seems unlikely.
Okay back to work...
... Later
Also, my mom and dad sent me one of those Honors Exam Week goodie bags. Totally cool. And, I was the first non-family member to wish Sode a happy birthday. I win at birthday! The essay is going quite well. I swear!

» New York Mixelicious
Okay so I'm putting together a mix of New York songs for Alex and I to listen to on our plane ride in lets count 'em 14 days (?) just about. Its at 12 tracks, thus far, I may include songs that remind me of New York even if they don't have New York actually in the song. Like "Please Call me Baby" by Tom Waits. That always makes me think of New York because of Keeping the Faith.
I finished The Historian. It was incredible; I couldn't put it down and well that kept me from doing a lot of homework I should have done, oops. It makes me want to study history because it seems like such an adventure. Plus to have the breadth of knowledge the characters in this book have, well that would be amazing.
Justin's on his way to Clifton. We're gonna go see Paradise Now. I'm super pumped.
My list of things to do by Monday: -3 more short essays for Middle Eastern portfolio -5-7 page paper for Middle Eastern portfolio -1 page of 2 page paper for Seminar -3-4 page rewrite for English portfolio -1 page rewrite for English portfolio
What a fun weekend this will be!
Thats all for now; just a little update.
**EDIT** I got these mittens the other day:

» Well well
This is going to sound completely disgusting, but my feet permanently stink. I don't understand it. I bath regularly. And well its just so bad at the moment that it's foremost in my mind.
Anyway, I turned in my color and drawing portfolios. I suppose it went well. We don't find out our grades for a few weeks. I can't concentrate on school which is real bad because I still have English and Middle Eastern portfolios due. Too much writing. AAAAHHHH It's kicking my butt.
I made this bitchin' mix, which I've been listening to quite a lot lately. When its not the mix it's radiohead or andrew bird. Music=Love
I'm excited for all my free time next week. I don't know what I will do with myself, but hopefully it will involve seeing Paradise Now, which is apparently about some really indie looking Palestinians who decide to become suicide bombers. Anyway, it looks pretty awesome. I'm psyched.
Hmm, what else? I just read Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. It was pretty awesome. Ridiculous really. I'm now reading The Historian, which is freaking me out. It's about the real Dracula. Anyway, its a good book, you all should read it.
I've been eating ridiculous amounts of chocolate lately, and I got a package of those cookies they give u on airplanes. Can you say scrumpdiddiliumptious?
On Saturday Sean and I are going to the basketball game. Yay for more brotherly-sisterly time.
This is me not working on the essay about why I am a product of my generation within American culture, which incidentally will include my brothers.
Alright, well thats enough for now. Later days.

» Fucking Andrew Bird
So last night Richard and I went to see Andrew Bird at the Southgate House. It was my second time seeing him, but this was way better than the first time, probably because I didn't pass out and Richard was there. We hooked up with a pretty large DAAP crowd which was fun times. Aaron and John were at the show too. (as I'm writing this, I'm feeling that my sentence structure is borderline elementary) Any way the show was genius. He played with this guy Doch (I'm pretty sure thats his name), who was mind boggling. Doch used all these computers and stuff to loop like 15 different beats and sounds at once. Incredible.
Andrew Bird at Intonation this summer.
I won't say anything about Harry Potter yet, but I will say that I looked pretty sexy. Pretty much like the cutest thing ever, but alas we forgot to take pictures. tear.
In the studio now procrastinating of course. Tonight Boondocks and possibly Kosherland. Yes you read that right Kosherland. Natalie and I split the cost. It's Candyland, but with kosher foods. Yeah amazing.
Going home to the madness on tuesday night. When will I be seeing you? yes you all of you Hopefully I'll be seeing you soon.

» Look at me and my updating self!
I'm living it up in art history. We're talking Etruscan right now; who cares? The only reason the Etruscans are important is because the Romans took everything from them.
Tonight is Harry Potter GOF. I think I might wet myself from excitement. I'm going to dress up as Hermione, Richard's going to be Tom Riddle, Natalie will be Harry and Ali is Ginny (only because of the hair; I don't think she really wants to dress up) Samidha doesn't know it but I'm thinking of her as one of the Patel twins. I'll totally post pictures of us all dressed up. I'll at least put them on facebook.
Everything is really good, so there's not too much to say.
Natalie's birthday was yesterday: I wished her a Happy Birthday at least 25 times with 5 different songs. Pretty much cute as balls.
Thanksgiving is going to be insane with way too many people at my house; I'm expecting all of my friends to save me from the disaster area. My mom, I'm pretty sure, will be ripping out her own hair. Super cute: I took my brother to the basketball game on Saturday and when my mom came to pick him up she gave me chocolate covered espresso beans and cherry covered chocolate covered cherries. Amazing.
Not going to Chicago this weekend, too bad I wanted to see Scott and Damien. :D But instead I'm going to see Andrew Bird for the second time with Richard and we're throwing Natalie a blowout party in the middle of CCM. It's going to be cold and crazy awesome.
Well later days.

SO the partay was a great success. Pictures eventually, when I install the upload program for my camera.
Worked Sat. and Sun. I really dislike going to work now. I get there and I don't want to be there. But its free movies, and a job guarentee for next summer.
Most important of course, Natalie came to West Chester yesterday. We did the usual WC activity: sat on the couch... o we just sit because there's nothing to do and I have to stay home with Grant until my mom gets home because Sean already left and i have to be the responsible one. Anyway, eventually we went to the Streets (Natalie enjoyed this, thought it was very nice, since Colerain is turning into a ghetto and all) and we saw Fantastic Four, which was fantastically lame and cheesy. Then we enjoyed some Waffle House. My parents even let me extend my curfew an hour, o man. What shit.
Orientation in 2 days, then Chicago and INTONATION! booyah

» It's really charming to see you...
So lets see... since justin came home, which was hmmm... a week ago...
I closed concessions like three times blah! (this is really all the i can say, i've expended my energy complaining about work)
Tried to go to War of the Worlds, but crowdedness and curfew failed me, gosh that was like last wednesday, why am i writing about it. Especially because then I did see War of the Worlds saturday night with Mr.Boggs. It was visual intense, the storms gave me stomach aches. Other than that though, tom cruise bites the big one (anyone could have played that part and possible a lot better too), robbie should have died, and lose the effing naration. Also for everyone that thought the ending was a big copout, look at the movie in context of when the book and subsequent radio show were originally released and realize that the idea of death by germs so to speak was a new idea, which now seems old hat in our world of germ warfare.
Watched Blue Ash fireworks with Tyler, Lindsey, and Nick. Kick ass fireworks, love the 3D ones and the weeping willows, but come on where's the all american music!?
Yesterday, I watched Navy Blue and Gold on TCM starring Mr. James Stewart (my love). Then went to dinner with Abbey at Chipotes. Then went to Aaron's and met his friend Matt. We started to watch Buddhist Fist but then I had to be home at 11. When I got home I watched Forbidden Planet most enjoyable.
Today, partay shopping with Lindz, then wait i'm closing concessions again, big surprise.
I've been thinking about my doorbell, when you gonna ring it.
